VickieVickie’s interest in photography began in a junior high photo course, and yet she remains as fascinated as ever by the ability to capture a fleeting image of light and shadow in a form that endures forever. As a mother of four, her desire to have as many pictures as possible of her own children has evolved into a passion for natural light portraiture. “Kids change so fast. Pictures help us remember.” Vic prefers digital photography for the way it allows her to make the most of precious time in the field, and to emphasize the strengths and essence of her subject. She enjoys working with people in unconventional or otherwise interesting outdoor settings, but she’s equally content to shoot flora, fauna, architecture or landscapes when exploring with her husband.

GregGreg began by guiding his wife into new locations, and went from
setting her up for the shot, to “suggesting” the shots she should take, to borrowing her camera to shoot some himself. When fighting over one camera got old he dug out a Minolta XG-1 bought from an Army buddy in the mid-eighties. Greg prefers film over digital photography for the way it forces him to slow down and consider each element of each composition, and believes fundamental repetition is the key to his ongoing development as a photographic artist. Greg enjoys wildlife and landscapes, but is particularly drawn toward applying a photojournalistic style to fading Americana. He currently pursues his muse through abandoned farms, forgotten coal regions and cement belt ruins. |
